How to Create a Team
Creating a team is as easy as 1-2-3-4 !
- Organize four or more people from your company, school, neighborhood, church, or other group who want to ride under the same team name. All ages and abilities welcome! The more you recruit the more fun you will have. Forming a team does not cost anything extra, but the benefits are many: team photos, team training rides, team jerseys, team fundraisers, and a lot more fun.
- Choose a team captain, a team name ("Team ABC"), and set a fundraising goal. Think big!
- The team captain should register online first, setting up the team name. Use the "create a new team" option. Then other team members can register using the "join a team" option, and easily find your team in the list. Once you've registered, you have access to individual and team web pages for the event season, where you can refer others to "meet your team". We can help you if you need to change your team name or change the captain, just let us know.
- Start collecting contributions individually or as a team. There are great fundraising tips on our Web site, and many teams hold group fundraising events (Texas Hold 'em tournaments, BBQ's, etc.) to raise funds as a group, then allocate the funds to each individual rider.
Please note the following:
- Teams have the same fundraising requirements as individuals: each rider must pay the current registration fee and raise the $250 minimum in pledges. If you have a company that will pay for all team member registration fees, please contact Sam Smith for a team code that will accrue the fees until near the event, when an invoice can be generated for your company to pay.
- Any funds turned in as a team should be allocated to individual riders for credit towards prizes and the pledge minimum, or they will be posted to the team captain's account. We ask that you have this allocation done two weeks prior to checking in the weekend of the event, if possible.
- You can have more than one team captain assigned. If your team is large enough, you may need one captain for the training rides, one for the fundraising efforts, one for the recruiting efforts, etc. Captains will receive regular team captain e-mails keeping them up-to-date on the event.
